Discover the unique DotDash Keyboard, an innovative on-screen keyboard designed to enhance your typing experience on devices with smaller screens or slower processors. This keyboard offers a novel way to enter text through Morse code, ensuring compatibility with your Android device.
The DotDash Keyboard operates as a seamless replacement for the standard Android keyboard. By tapping into the simplicity of Morse code, it provides three primary buttons: Dot, Dash, and Space, in addition to Shift and Delete functionalities for text correction. The input method is straightforward:
- To type a letter, input the corresponding combination of dots and dashes.
- Confirm each letter with a quick tap on the Space button.
- Double-tap Space to add a space between words.
- Use Delete to either remove an in-progress letter or erase the last entered letter.
- Apply the ".-.-" sequence as an alternative to the Enter key.
- Access a Morse code reference by swiping up from the keyboard.
Upon installation, the app requires activation from the "Language & keyboard" settings within your phone, as it is not listed among standard applications. After enabling it, you can easily switch between the Morse code-based system and your default one through the "Choose input method" option in your notifications area.
Although the game currently does not include certain features tailored for ham radio enthusiasts, such as audio feedback and timing-based input, its current design ensures uninterrupted typing accuracy, regardless of your phone's processing speed.
For punctuation, Morse code groups have been developed, with more details available on the project's Github page. Users have the option to report bugs and contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform.
